Week 11-15

Thank you to all the students who participated in VOCES8 Concert.  It was a huge success.

Friday March 15th is the school trip to the Aquarium.

Students are to bring a disposable lunch (brown bag with name on it).

Students are to wear their gym uniforms, with sweatshirts. Students are to wear their ID cards.

Students may bring their phones but they are responsible for their property.

Week of March 4 thru March 8

Wed. March 6 – students received ashes and attended a prayer service with McDevitt students

Sunday March 10 – Live Connections Concert. For those students who signed up:

please be at McD at 11:00 , bring a lunch and wear your full winter uniform.

Week of Feb. 21 and 22

Thursday – all students practiced with composer Jay for the March 10 concert

 All students attended Best Friends and played games in the gym

Friday – All students will wear their gym uniforms. We are showing our support for the McDevitt Pep Rally. OLC is asked to wear blue. OLC will participate in Philly Dance lessons in the afternoon so we may only get to see a few minutes of the Pep Rally. Unfortunately, the Pep Rally was scheduled after we committed with Philly Dance.

Week of February 11-15 and 18-22

We were able to go to Live Connections on Monday and enjoyed the presentation- the Language of Rhythm.

We also welcomed Ms. Maureen Koons as the new teacher assistant in Room 8.

Thursday 14th  Students may dress down in red for Valentine’s Day with a $1.00 donation to St. John’s Hospice.  A paper has been sent home.

Friday 15th we will join McDevitt in a whole school Mass

Monday 18th No School for President’s Day

Tuesday 19th No School for students, Professional Development Day for teachers.

Week of February 4-8

Feb 5th Dancing Classroom Philly begins Tuesday.  All permission slips must be returned.

Feb 6th VOCES 8 will come to school to teach dance moves.

Feb 8th Brigance testing- papers have been sent home notifying if your young adult is to come and be tested.

Week of Jan 28- Feb 1

Today we participated in the Living Rosary.

Students are asked to bring in canned goods.

Tuesday is faculty appreciation day.  We will also try to join a McDevitt theology class in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Wednesday is student appreciation day and students will receive a pancake lunch from McDevitt.

Friday some students will represent OLC at the Neumann shrine food packaging for the poor event. Info letter will be sent home if your young adult is asked to attend. OLC school will be providing a pizza lunch on Friday.

Miss Caroline is coming to arrange our Dancing Classrooms Philly schedule.  We will be starting in February.  You must return the Dancing Classrooms Philly permission slips.

Live Connection paperwork- media photo release and permission slip must be returned.

Brigance testing papers have gone home today, please check folders for that important information.

Next week is Catholic Schools Week. 

Monday we will participate with McDevitt by demonstrating and praying a Living Rosary.  We will be treating our bus drivers and assistants with pretzels.

Students are asked to bring in canned goods.

If you have received an OVR paper, please return it to school.  If you have not returned your Live Connection Concert paper, please return it as soon as possible.  If you have marked unsure, please let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange transportation. The teachers have decided that any student who attends will receive a week long homework pass.

Friday February 8th is our next Brigance testing day.  You will be notified if your young adult is to come to school or has the day off. This is the list we have at this time of the students who are to come into school on Friday Feb. 8th- Brooke, Mick, Matthew, Billy, Amanda, Kelly, Justin, Christopher, Gronley, Tylece.

 

 

 

Week of Jan 14-18

Thurs 17th Pro Life Assembly with Bishop McDevitt

Please return the paper indicating if your young adult will be attending the March 10th Live Connections concert.  We highly recommend that the students attend if they are able to get to Bishop McDevitt.  We are taking a bus to and from the center.  Students can be picked up back at school.

STUDENTS DO NOT HAVE SCHOOL ON MONDAY JANUARY 21ST.

We have been informed that REMIND is going to charge for text messaging for Verizon customers. Further information will be provided soon.

 

 

 

Week of Jan. 7-11

Friday Jan. 11 – Free Dress down in Eagles attire. Please make sure clothing fits appropriately over the torso so that no skin will show when students are moving during tasks.

March 10 – Live Connections Voces8 concert at Temple University.  A sign-up form will be coming home for those students who wish to participate and take a bus from McDevitt.

May 10 – Best Friends Prom. Details to follow

Week of December 17-21

Tuesday a representative from Ken’s Krew, a work program at Home Depot, will be here to meet the students.

Wednesday, Miss Lori from the kitchen is treating the students to a pizza party to thank the students for doing the lunch trays.

Thursday is the Best Friends Christmas Party.

Friday we will participate in Las Posadas to lead all of McDevitt into the gym for the Tableau.  Students will be dismissed at 11:00.

Week of Dec 10-14

Please send in the $1.00 for the family Christmas gift that your young adult earned doing a chore. Thank you for those who have already sent it in.

Please send in the signed cover sheet from the Progress Report.

Students received a McDevitt Birthday cupcake on Monday to celebrate McDevitt’s 60th.  Students were also featured in a McDevitt social media video extending birthday wishes.

Olivia, Gronley, Justin, Kirstyn, Sean C, Lauren will represent the OLC/McDevitt students at the lower school’s Christmas Prayer Service.  They will be doing a short reading.

Thursday December 13 BRING LUNCH AND NO BREAKFAST PROVIDED.  Room 1 and 2 will be coming and making cookies with us.

Thursday December 20 Best Friends Christmas Party.

 

Tylece received Honorable Mention for designing a Christmas card for the Archdiocese.

 

 

Week of Dec. 3 – 7

Tues. 4th – Trip downtown -  full uniform and bring a lunch. Please send in the permission slip if you have not already sent it in. Students can not attend any trip if they do not have a permission slip. Thank you to those students who returned the permission slips promptly. 

Friday Dec. 7 – no school for students – Teacher Professional Development Day

Students need to bring in $1 after doing a chore to pay for their parents’ Christmas gift. We will be working on them next week. Thank you so much to the students who have already brought in their $1  and told us what chore they did.

 

Week of November 26-30

Thursday 29th- Best Friends

Students need to return the permission slip for the trip downtown on Tuesday December 4th.  On the 4th students are to wear full winter uniform and are to bring a lunch.  We are not sure of our arrival time back at school and don’t want them to miss lunch.  Student will still have breakfast.

We are asking each student to do a chore at home to receive $1.00  in order to make a Christmas gift for his/her family. Once your young adult completes the chore, please send in the dollar.  We will be asking what chore the student performed.

Week of November 12-16

Wednesday November 14 Trip to Wells Fargo and Teacher provided lunch. FULL school uniform.  No money. If you want to take pictures you may bring your phone or camera.  YOU (students) are responsible for them.

Thursday regular vision screening with the McDevitt nurse.

If you bring in 2 canned goods, you may dress down on Friday, November 16th.  This is with McDevitt and they are requiring JEANS, no sweatpants or yoga pants.

Tuesday is a  full dress down day. Wear purple, however, your outfit must be appropriate for gym class and must include sneakers. $1 donation goes to Sarah’s Foundation.

Ring orders are going home this week. Please return with full payment by Thursday Oct. 25 so the orders can be reviewed.

IEP input forms and scheduling will be coming home for those students who were tested Monday Oct.15.

If your young adult is being Brigance tested on the 15th, the teacher will be writing an IEP and making arrangements for you to come and discuss the IEP.
